This exhibition features 14 selected works spanning a wide range of media, including pen, colored pencil, marker, ink, acrylic, and mixed media, extending further into torn paper, canvas, and sculptural installations. Through unconventional mark-making and material experimentation, the artist redefines the boundaries of pictorial language. Among the works is a striking sculptural piece based on Wall Street data, transforming abstract financial information into tangible form, visually compelling and conceptually profound.
In Dr. Gan Yu's work, the stock market is not merely a symbol of economic activity, but a visual score in which politics, technology, and culture converge. The lines and structures shaped by fluctuating indices convey a precise, almost mechanical logic, while handwritten inscriptions layered over them introduce personal emotion and everyday narratives.
Together, they create a polyphonic space where rationality and subjectivity intersect. Global news, public discourse, and even private memory are superimposed within the compositions, imbuing the works with both historical depth and immediacy.
