May 06, 2018

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, CCACC Art Gallery invited first lady of Maryland, Yumi Hogan, to speak. Hogan presented CCACC with a proclamation from the Governor of Maryland. 周道元 and 王伯翰, representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO), and many influential figures in the Asian American community also attended the event.

Yumi Hogan is the first Korean-American first lady of a U.S. state and a well-accomplished artist. She stated that APA Month is a good opportunity to showcase Asian traditional culture and art, and to strengthen the connection between Asian communities. As an Asian immigrant, she is proud of her culture and believes it is important to pass down that culture to the next generation.
