大華府區華裔學生水彩畫比賽拉開帷幕

      

美京華人活動中心美京藝廊 (CCACC Art Gallery) 和位於華府的美國華人博物館 (Chinese American Museum Foundation) 為了倡導華裔學生美術創作與欣賞的風氣,以“Our Time” 為主題,特別舉辦大華府學生水彩畫比賽。繪畫的主題是廣義的,可以表達因疫情世界突然改變下的這特殊艱困時期的感受,也可以表達無關疫情氛圍的感受,我們希望藉此能激盪出學生的創意。我們很榮幸邀請到紐約知名的藝術家鍾耕略先生和馬里蘭大學藝術教授沈寬先生為此次水彩畫比賽的評審。此項比賽提供多項獎學金,凡入圍的作品將於明年春節期間在該博物館和美京藝廊聯合展出。

凡大華府地區華裔 K-12 年級參加的學生分為兩組比賽。報名即日起至十一月一日截止,作品電子檔送件截止日是十一月二十日下午五時截止;中文學校的學生請學校的美術老師推薦學生參加,其他學生請按規定送交作品電子檔,每名學生參加一次,以一件作品為準。 我們鼓勵喜愛繪畫的華裔學生踴躍參加, 報名登記表格和參加辦法可查看美國華人博物館網站 https://www.chineseamericanmuseum.org/artcompetition, 美京華人活動中心網站 https://www.ccacc-dc.org,

美國華人博物館是在 2017 年 6 月 6 日在美國首都華盛頓哥倫比亞特區註冊成立的非營利機構。博物館是美國聯邦政府認定的享受免稅待遇的公益慈善機構 (501(c)(3) Public Charity)。博物館致力於收集,保存,研究和展示美國華人的歷史和文化資料,反映和紀錄華人在美國的日常生活和經歷,中美之間的文化,經濟方面的交流。博物館是一家民間機構,沒有政府的資助。博物館位于華盛頓市中心第十六大街,一幢有 110 多年歷史的小辦公樓,離白宮僅 800 米。博物館有五層,共八百多平方米,一到四樓用於展覽。博物館在開幕以來和美京華人活動中心,華盛頓的 1882 基金會 (1882 Foundation) 等合作,舉辦過的展覽包括 “華人在美奮鬥史”、“傑出的美國華裔婦女先鋒”、“上海:二戰期間猶太人的避風港”等展並舉辦多次研討會。由於最近的疫情,博物館暫時沒有對外開放,但是博物館還是一直在為下一步的發展計畫準備。博物館即將展出:山東濰縣集中營的故事,講述第二次世界大戰中,一段很少被人知道的歷史。歡迎有興趣的朋友預約參觀,預約請聯絡 info@chineseamericanmuseum.org

Registration Form

CAMDC and CCACC Student Art Competition Guidelines

Eligibility

Chinese American K-12 students in the Washington Metropolitan DC area are eligible to enter the competition.  Chinese schools and art teachers may recommend students for the competition. One entry per student.

 

Grade Categories

  • Lower-grade students born after December 31, 2008.

  • Upper-grade students born on or before December 31, 2008.

 

Theme

The theme is Our Time.

We want to see what this topic inspires our students. Artwork can be realistic or abstract.

 

Media Requirement

  • Watercolor on paper, no larger than 20”x30”.

 

Registration and Deadline for Entries

  • Email your registration form to ArtCompetition@chineseamericanmuseum.org by Nov. 1, 2020.

  • Email your entry No later than 5 pm on Friday, November 20, 2020. 

  • Entries submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

 

Online Submission

Save your artwork using the following file name and type: [student last name]_[school]_grade.jpg; Example: Sun_RMHS_9.jpg

Submit one artwork in jpg file less than 20 MB along with contact information:

 

Judging Criteria

A final Judging Committee will review the submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Interpretation of the theme

  • Technical skill

  • Originality (all artwork must be original ideas and created entirely by the students; no artwork depicting characters from TV shows, movies, video games or books will be accepted)

 

Judging and Winners

  • Sixty finalists will be selected from both lower-grade and upper-grade groups.

  • All finalists will receive a certificate of recognition.

  • Finalists’ artwork will be displayed at the Chinese American Museum DC and/or CCACC Art Gallery during the Lunar New Year period in February 2021.

  • Best-in-Show winners will be selected from each finalist group.

  • Best-in-Show lower grade winners will receive a scholarship award of $200 (2), $600 (2), and $1,000 (1).

  • Best-in-Show upper grade winners will receive a scholarship award of $300 (3), $1,000 (2-3), and $2,000 (0-1).

 

Notification of Finalists and Displaying Requirements

  • Finalists will be notified on January 8, 2021.  

  • Displaying painting needs to be matted and framed.
